Rah rah ah ah ah.

Finally! A post about one of my ceramics projects!

Here is not the first, but the second sculpture I was working on.  I hinted at it in an earlier post.  This was for our coiling project that had to be based off of a period of non-Western ceramics, but with a contemporary twist.  I was really drawn to the Bust of Nefertiti (which isn't in fact ceramics, but whatevaaa) and thought it bore a striking resemblance to a photo of Lady Gaga that I found.  I chose Lady Gaga because, like Nefertiti, they are both signs of beauty and incredibly well-known women.

I was a little nervous adding the feathers and glitter to this project because I didn't want it to look kitchy or crafty, but I think I walked that thin line with grace.

Earthenware, terra sigillata and underglaze, cone 4 glazes, glitter, feathers.
