Here is the a little snippet of my final project for John's photo book class, also known as the most frustrating project I have encountered all semester.

Collé

This is a zine that I had to create for John's class. The guidelines were pretty open-ended on what the content had to be, so I thought I would do some collages with all of the cut out things I have sitting in a shoe box in my studio.  I scanned them in and then added a few graphic elements, so the effect of the collage is a combination of rough and smooth.

We practiced the codex binding technique for this project, and I am quite the fan.  We made an edition of two zines with three four-page signatures.  Mine are printed on white cardstock.

These are just a few of my favorite spreads from the interior:

As you can see, I like antlers and color.

Earth

Here are the photograph's featured in the photography book I made for John's class, that I have chosen to title Earth.

Pamphlet-stitched Photo Book

This is the finished product of the first project for John Mann's Photography as Landscape photo book class.  We were to construct a pamphlet-stitched book containing photographs of an experience.  I chose to combine two art practices, photography and ceramics, to create mine.

In my book, the clauddagh ring that I wear on my thumb appears in every picture as I work the earthenware to create a pinch pot, which also is round.  I thought it would be appropriate to place the ring from the pinch pot on the cover of the book.

All photographs are taken with a Canon 400 Digital and printed onto Moab Entrada Natural Rag 300 paper.  Book measures 9 inches x 6 inches.
