Inside

Inside, 2012.
White earthenware fired to cone 04 and pine needles.  Installed in the forest around Silver Lake in Tallahassee, where the pine needles were collected from.

Going back to where you came from.
A strange happening in the woods.
What is growing?

Best Photoshop job ever!

I have been scanning old Munns family slides in like a mad woman, in hopes of preserving them for years to come to give to my family! Here is one that I actually edited, and I must say, I did a pretty good job.

Gulf Hammock

Took this on my way home at around 9.  Cody wanted to photograph it before.  Props to him.

Bedscapes

These are a couple of spreads that were included in my second project for John's class.  We were exploring the accordion book and had to create a 15-page book on a topic of our choice.  I chose to create "bedscapes".  I love laying in my bed all morning and seeing the daylight fill my room and seeing how the sheets become an indoor landscape of their own.

The book is 8"x10", printed on Moab Entrada Natural Rag paper, and housed in a handmade cover.

The other photographs can be found on my Flickr!

From Across the Sea

Last weekend was just so great!  Cody's friend and boss, Nick Ballon, stopped by good ol' Tallahassee on his way to South America to visit his former assistant.  Nick was the photographer that Cody worked for last semester in London.  We were determined to give him a very American experience, and I think we may have succeeded.

Wednesday night we had a great homecooked meal, compliments of Cody of course, and Thursday night we went out to some very college, very American bars.  Friday morning I made pumpkin waffles in celebration of the first day of fall (SO EXCITED), and then we were off to explore the city! We went to the top of the capitol building to see the view of Tallahassee from twenty-two floors up, and then travelled across town to Cody's favorite lake.  Cody was testing out some old Polaroid 4x5 film that he was able to snag, Nick was experiencing Tallahassee's nature at its finest, and I was just there for the ride.  Saturday was a day of grilling and college football with friends ("I've got crisps, buns, and beer and I've neva felt more American!"), and Sunday we said goodbye and Nick was on his way to Bolivia!

I had to add this.  Here is Cody testing out some shots, and Nick slapping the water with a stick after speaking with a biker who mentioned that there was a baby alligator in the lake and causing commotion would be the only way for it to come to us.  Greeaaaattt idea.

Earth

Here are the photograph's featured in the photography book I made for John's class, that I have chosen to title Earth.

Pamphlet-stitched Photo Book

This is the finished product of the first project for John Mann's Photography as Landscape photo book class.  We were to construct a pamphlet-stitched book containing photographs of an experience.  I chose to combine two art practices, photography and ceramics, to create mine.

In my book, the clauddagh ring that I wear on my thumb appears in every picture as I work the earthenware to create a pinch pot, which also is round.  I thought it would be appropriate to place the ring from the pinch pot on the cover of the book.

All photographs are taken with a Canon 400 Digital and printed onto Moab Entrada Natural Rag 300 paper.  Book measures 9 inches x 6 inches.

Backyard Portrait Shoot

Cody has been busy working on his big "thesis" project before he graduates, so when our dear friend Ian was in town, Cody took advantage of the extra hands to photograph Catie's boyfriend, John.

Do they ever have shirts on?

Left: Ian and John checking out the light meter.
Right: Catie relaxing in the background.

I have talented friends.

I am sitting with my wonderful roommate Cody and he says that I need to get to blogging more... which is very true.

So I thought I would show you the most recent addition to the art gallery that is Casa Princessa...

These BEAUTIFUL photographs are by my dear old friend Patrick Smith.  We took photography class together in high school and have been art buddies ever since.  He gave these four gorgeous prints to me for my birthday.  He has a SmugMug up and running so everyone should go check out his stuff and order some prints!

Thanks Patrick!

I spilled a candle on my hand, so obviously I took pictures.
Kind of looks like molting skin, yes?

Hands

Two old, unedited negative scans of Catie's hands for the portrait project.  They look similar to ones that Cody did...
