This post is extremely overdue and I know that I need to start updating this blog more. My October show and sale at Cello's Charhouse in Safety Harbor was a huge success. I had a wonderful time meeting everyone and seeing old family and friends.

Thieves
This is a collage that I made for my sister back in August. We hit the jackpot in Sarasota snagging a 6-point deer skull and a pair of antlers from an architectural salvage store for ten dollars a pop. She spent a week cleaning them and set them in the backyard to dry, and then they were stolen! So, I thought she deserved a little pick-me-up.

Oma & Opa
Looking back on 2011, having a family so close to get each other through dark times is the biggest blessing I could ever ask for.

Best Photoshop job ever!
I have been scanning old Munns family slides in like a mad woman, in hopes of preserving them for years to come to give to my family! Here is one that I actually edited, and I must say, I did a pretty good job.

Update
How has the entire month of October already come and gone?! Tallahassee has yet to feel a consistent fall breeze, although the nights have been cool and wonderful. We have been spending them with good friends at the Princess House playing backyard football, carving pumpkins, sitting around our brand spankin' new fire pit, and indulging in some AMAZING food (it surprises me how good we actually are at cooking).
The BFA warehouse has been cooling down a lot and I have been trying to get some work done over there too! My parents finally got to see my space when they came to visit us. Speaking of work, I have had a zillion projects going on and am feeling very in over my head, which is frustrating. Guess it is finally time to learn some time management!
So until I can learn to juggle school, work, and play like a grown-up, I'll just enjoy the beginning of fall in Florida.
My studio all finished... well, for the most part! |

"Thanksgiving was never meant to be shut up in a single day."
-Robert Caspar Lintner
I have eaten so much food today, and there is nothing else I would rather be doing than sitting with my grandmother on the couch, watching football, beginning my long night of digestion.
Here are just some things that I find myself thanking God for everyday:
- my family
- Cabernet Savignon
- Goodwill
- my kitten and puppy
- Justin Bieber
- my best friends
- college football
- San Francisco, California
- artists great and small
- John Donne
- Sex and the City
- Longboat Key, Florida
- laughter
- deodorant
- thunderstorms
Tomorrow, the Christmas season officially begins. Decorating all day with my Mama! Only to be followed by a sleepover with my best friends. This is just a glorious time of year.

"I grew up in a pretty house where I had space to run and I had the best days with you."
Here is the final for my Comfort Reality project in Terri Lindbloom's Experimental Drawing class.
These are all things that remind me of home-- my family, Bella and Kitten, my comfy chair, my love of wine and photography, and the ever present scene of birds on power lines.
I used micron pen to create my subjects, which were then accented by orange, pink, and blue watercolor. All are drawn onto old children's books that remind me of my past.
So, I think this calls for a little song that reminds me of home:
"I have an excellent father
His strength is making me stronger
God smiles on my little [sister]
Inside and out
[She's] better than I am
I grew up in a pretty house
Where I had space to run
And I had the best days with you
There is a video
I found from back when I was three
You set up a paint set in the kitchen
And you're talking to me
It's the age of princesses and pirate ships
And the seven dwarfs
Daddy's smart
And you're the prettiest lady in the whole wide world"

Happy Mother's Day!
I just had the most magnificent Mother's Day ever. Literally looked through my dad's parents old slides for 10 hours... not exaggerating. I'm still in my pajamas from last night.
The stuff we found was both hilarious and mind-blowing (i.e. Vietnam War protesters in London in the 70's, my great-grandfather's antique car collection, my grandpa's graduation from Notre Dame, embarrassing family photos, etcetera etcetera).
Meme and Pop playing cards, early 1970's (note the beehive).
Meme lounging on the Jersey shore, 1950's (cue the obnoxious yet contagious accents).
Pop with his "Salvage Boys" preparing for a dive, 1950's.
My grandmother's sense of style-- wait, now that I think of it, EVERYONE'S sense of style-- was just incredible. I will definitely be making a mock look book of all of Meme's outfits.

Treasures
These are photographs of both of my grandmothers on my desk. I love them both so much. The frame was super cheap at Michael's and the jewelry box was a deal at one of my favorite thrift stores, The Other Side Vintage at Railroad Square.

The Emerald City
I went home this weekend to see Wicked with my family... unbelievably good. I didn't know the story line before so the humor and Wizard of Oz references were just spectacular. This show made me want to look into costume and set design. Maybe it was the three dancers that I could have sworn were Lady Gaga.
