I have been dreaming about my future home a lot lately, what with apartment leases flying around my head lately. There is nothing I want more than a cozy, whimsical, mismatched home full of stuff. I just love stuff. Right now, it’s obsessing over anything bird-related and has always been collecting Buddha figures.
As I lay here sick in bed in my favorite place in the world, my room that I grew up in, in what I will soon call “my parents’ house” when I get my own apartment/house, I think about things I just don’t think I’d be happy without. Making this list reminds me of the outrageous demands people make on HGTV’s My First Home…
A claw foot bath tub.
Lots and lots of candles with mismatched candlesticks.
Plenty of flowers, both alive and dried, in various wine bottles.
An antler chandelier.
Twinkle lights… perhaps a wine bottle light that I’ll make Cody make me.
A big rag rug.
An entire wall of frames filled with art and memories.
A bookcase of books that I have actually read.
A huge metal table that will remain permanently messy for art purposes.
A vanity with a great gaudy mirror.
Big floor pillows.
A mannequin.
A walk-in closet.
Glass doorknobs.
A bed with a fluffy down comforter and rod iron headboard.
My cat.
I can’t wait for this wish to be granted.
